After serving two years as Fleet Captain, Mike has been promoted to Commodore! Mike and wife Sue hail from Ohio and were members of the Sandusky Sailing Club for many years, running their youth sailing program. After serving in flag officer positions at that club, Mike swore never again - and yet here he is! They enjoy racing their Tartan 30 Lunasea both in our round-the-buoys races and in offshore longer races. Mike is enjoying his retirement from school teaching immensely. They have been members since 2017.
Brenda and her late husband Ladd Lewis are life-long boaters – water skiing, sailing in the Virgin Islands and cruising on a single engine 40’ Trawler for 17 years. Ladd first came to the Club in 1985 as a guest of General Dave Stanford and when they moved to Ft Lauderdale in 1999, they were finally close enough to join the Club. In 2013 they moved to Key Largo after both retired from the FAA. Since then Brenda has served on the Membership Committee and also as the member sponsor for the Moth/WASZP regattas. This is Brenda's first year on the Board and she looks forward to working with everyone as Vice Commodore.
Andy has been a lifelong boater, moving to Key Largo in 1986. He has cruised a 35 Ft. Pearson sailboat and a 40ft Trawler. He joined the club in 2006 and quickly became the Director of Youth Sailing. He set the basics for the growth of the youth program and it has been in excellent hands since. He has also served on the Board of Directors 4 times since becoming a member and this will be his first time as a Flag Officer. He retired from Government service in 2008 after 27 years, most of which was at the Air Traffic Control Tower at Miami International Airport. He now enjoys sailing, boating and flying, all of which keep him busy in retired life.
